More women in hell?

Whenever the "scholars" are challenged about the "authentic" Hadith where the Prophet Pbuh is supposed to have said that there will be more women than men in hell, their explanations are at best comical. When they realize it is fruitless to make a case against the women amass, some including the like of Zakir Naik assert that since there are more women in this world than men hence it is logical to conclude that the report is correct.

There is only one thing absent from the argument, facts.

What total nonsense, here are the latest number;

Total world population = 6,829,360,438
Male = 3,442,850,573
Female = 3,386,509,865

That translates into, for every 100 women, there are 102 men in the world

Source: UN Statistics Division, Department of Economic and Social Affairs. "World Population Prospects: The 2008 Revision".

note: gender ratio = males per 100 females.

Nothing but tarnishing the name of the Prophet Mohammad Pbuh day in and day out and for what?

Surely, men who submit themselves to GOD and women who submit themselves to HIM, and believing men and believing women, and obedient men and obedient women, and truthful men and truthful women, and men steadfast in their faith and steadfast women, and men who are humble and women who are humble, and men who give alms and women who give alms, and men who fast and women who fast, and men who guard their chastity and women who guard their chastity and men who remember ALLAH much and women who remember HIM - ALLAH has prepared for all of them forgiveness and a great reward Quran 33:35

  1. Brother, you're only looking at one side of the coin. I agree that some hadiths are nonsensical, and that the science of the hadith needs an update to modern historical standards, but that doesn't mean the entire concept should be eliminated. Some hadiths are beautiful, and some others are even necessary!
    I think your efforts should be focused on reforming the hadith, and not focused on destroying it.
    May Allah guide you!

    1. Salam, there is only one side of the coin when it comes to Deen. Allow me to explain; no matter how you look at it, Quran is the primary document and declared as the Furqan, the standard bearer. Please apply the standard Quran details before accepting even claims of a social nature let alone where theological positions are overturned. Two minimum witnesses for an already agreed position between two parties and four minimum witnesses to back a claim, no exceptions.

      The actual number of reports that fit the Quranic standard will easily fit on a two pager. My problem is pretty straightforward, if I go ahead and lower my criteria for accepting reports that will define our Deen then I will be going against the very word of God. What will you do?

      It is irrelevant where a report happens to be beautiful or not, we just cannot risk it. Please read my post which addresses the risk of accepting something without proof.

      Please give thought on the following verse;
      Hence, on Resurrection Day they shall bear the full weight of their own burdens, as well as some of the burdens of those ignorant ones whom they have led astray: oh, how evil the load with which they shall be burdened! Quran 16:25

      Now just imagine you go ahead and pass on a report that you personally cannot verify 100% and a thousand individuals come across it and it turns out to be false, I for one cannot even contemplate the burden that it may put on my head and for what?

      Which Hadith is necessary for my salvation?

    2. Thank you for your response.
      One of many examples is the question of prayers! What most Quranist do, is that they take a few verses scattered around the Quran, and put them together in an arbitrary order for prayers... while things like ablution are mentioned very explicitly in the Quran, and in one comprehensive verse (5:6). Why did God scatter the verses about prayers and make the verse about ablution much clearer?
      Some other quranists accept the traditional prayer method with the belief that prayers were passed down generation after generation by tawatoor. This makes more sense, but shouldn't they then follow the mutawatir ahadith?

      Also, can you link me the statistics to prove that the correct ahadith being as few as a couple of pages in length? And where in the Quran is the "bil lafz" criterion mentioned? Would God punish us for loving our Prophet and trying to become like him by setting him as our role model? The Quran is by no means a biography of the Prophet.

      Enjoy your blog, and you bring up several interesting points, but would love it if you clarified the above!
      Thank you.

  2. Is this a sound Hadith? "Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri: Once Allah's Apostle went out to the Musalla (to offer the prayer) o 'Id-al-Adha or Al-Fitr prayer. Then he passed by the women and said, "O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women)." They asked, "Why is it so, O Allah's Apostle ?" He replied, "You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you." The women asked, "O Allah's Apostle! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?" He said, "Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?" They replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?" The women replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her religion."" - Sahih Bukhari 1:6:301
