Increased complexity is almost always a cover for blatant and widespread wrongdoings.

Increased complexity is almost always a cover for blatant and widespread wrongdoings. Apart from scientific domains where the process of discovery sometimes dictates complex methodologies, the unwarranted complexity in language, law, financial models, bureaucratic regulations and social sciences is almost always a red flag. Notions such as "science of Hadith" abrogation and “Asbab al-Nuzul” (circumstances of the Revelations) goes hand in hand with the repeated cries of "ask an Imam". The idea of “we will tell you what does the word of God means” was borrowed from the Christian Church and Jewish traditions.

The only thing worse than unnecessary complexity is the omission of spelling out the methodology in putting together a body of work to support a narrative. Obviously it is a good thing for those that refuse to be duped by the underlying sophistry. For omitting a methodology can never be explained away as an oversight. The only explanation for this obvious sleight of hand points to a crude attempt to pull wool over the target audience.

The unrelenting historical effort has always been focused on how to take God given rights away from an individual. Towards that end Quran was targeted in the same way the earlier revelations were targeted. The one huge difference is that God in His infinite mercy decided to preserve the latest chapter of His Revelations verbatim.

Islam in fact is not complicated. For that matter none of the earlier Revelations were complicated. Furthermore, the thing about Islam is that it has no central religious authority, no rite of passage and no official clergy and just one 100% internally verifiable look-up book the Quran. It is the ultimate do it yourself religion both on an individual level and community level. Islam is definitely not based on "reviews" of others, it is all about research and understanding of God's words using the God given faculties of reason and logic and unlike the third parties review methodology, the reason and logic methodology have a huge advantage; besides the only methodology sanctioned in the Quran itself, anybody who uses it arrives at the very same conclusion :)
