These are the very words of God, we should ask, what is going on?
How does "Lahw Al-Hadith" translate into "Idle talk" and than interpreted as "music"
Here is the Arabic for Quran 31:06
ومن الناس من يشتري لهو الحديث ليضل عن سبيل الله بغير علم ويتخذها هزوا اولئك لهم عذاب مهين
Lets keep Quran 54:17 in mind at all times
And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? [Quran 54:17]
Note: Earlier I had posted the same question but mixed up the number of the verse, user "foamy" was kind enough to point it out, I prefer to post fresh rather than leave a Quranic verse not labeled properly. Any inconvenience to those in the middle of answering is regretted.

Animal Seeking Kindness観音かんのん: Here is another suggestion,
Stay clear of concepts alien to the true teachings of Islam, like abrogation and Shaan-e-Nuzool (Circumstances of a Revelation.) and keep clear of some translations if you don't understand Arabic, like the following
Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din Al-Hilali, Muhammad Muhsin Khan, Ibn Kathir, Dawood, George Sale and JM Rodwell.
The other body of Islamic literature is the Ahadith, extreme caution is needed since a large number of fake Ahadith can be found in the popular compilations like Bukhari, Muslim etc
Once you have taken the above to heart I am sure you will change your mind.
Thanks for your advise but we do this 24/7, give us some credit please:)

As ti the Hadith you quoted, It is a very well known deception to mix the good with the bad as was done in this obvious fake Hadith (Bukhari or no Bukhari) " people who permit zinaa, (Haram) silk, (Not Haram), alcohol ( Strongly advised against) and musical instruments (Not Haram)" , classic case :)

Nawab: So the personal attacks continue, if your sole argument is that we should avoid anything and everything that distract us from the remembering God, I have a suggestion, stop eating, sleeping, working LOL what logic what Fiqr, I think you don't know Arabic and if you do than you really are convinced that nobody else knows it, don't you understand logic, "Lahw Al-Hadith" does not mean Idle talk, that is one removed from the original and music does not mean idle talk, that is two removed from "Lahw Al-Hadith", its like saying potatoes mean tomatoes because both are vegetables and tomatoes means rose because both are red, therefore a potatoes is a rose LOL

Nawab: If music can distract you from remembering God, I think you are not doing it right. Another option, haven't you heard of one thing at a time :) and yet another, what if you use music to remember God?

►ѕнαнку яαмα∂α◄: Oh that one is simple. it means vain or unfounded "Hadith", won't that be a simple way to understand it in line with the Quran 54:17 :)

Since you asked, can you please enlighten us as to which specific Hadith explains which specific verse in the Quran :), you are aware that in Bukhari's collection a full 28 Surahs are left blank.

►ѕнαнку яαмα∂α◄: Oh no, there is no personal interpretations here I am merely translating it into English, if you need to know what does the word "Ahadith" means in Arabic, please look it up in a dictionary :)

confused: Nothing can be further from the truth, although it is "OLD-Arabic" as you put it, more to the point It is importance to note that the classical Arabic and even the Quresh dialect is not extinct. It is a living language still spoken by a large number of tribes, further more the language is to be found in a very large body of poetry and for the common people (both Arabic speaking and non-Arabs) preserved in several dictionaries; like Al-Mufridaat Fi Ghareebil Qur’an,Tajil ‘Uroos, Lisanil ‘Arab, Qamoos, Lane’s Lexicon. If you are willing to research than there is no problem.

- There is nothing easier than twisting the true meaning of the verses to make it fit in their ahadiths ! What a shame !!

- It seems like people who didn't like music twisted the meaning. Christians in the US have done the same thing to pretend the Bible forbids everything from comic books, to radio, to television, to video games.

- bro, idle talk means gossiping or any discussion that is not useful
what i have interpreted(correct me) if im wrong that Allah has forbidded from any such kind of discussions that are mentally not god for us
such as gossiping and backbiting because of these people make wrong decision build hatred against each other, where as good music is considered best supplement of mind, but until and unless music is not encouraging us for shirk!!!
so they have twisted the meaning of idle talk to music
and your right Quran is self explanatory recite Quran and one will get all the answers.- 5 Rating: Good Answer

31:7 When Our signs are recited to him, he turns away arrogantly as if he did not hear them, as if there is deafness in his ears. So announce to him a painful retribution.
Read 31:7 too, the matter becomes very clear, hadithist take Lahwal hadith as music, on the bases of a sahaby who swore three times that
Lahwal hadith means music !!
by the way only arab musical instruments are Halal, and rest all haram keep that in mind too !
one may sing battle songs
"One day," 'A'isha said, "the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came in when I was playing with my dolls and said, "'A'isha, whatever game is this?' 'It is Solomon's horses,' I replied, and he laughed." On another occasion, during the days of the Id al Adha, two young girls were with 'A'isha in her room, singing a song about the famous battle of Bu'ath and beating a tambourine in time. "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came in," said 'A'isha, 'and lay down with his face turned away. Then Abu Bakr came, and scolded me, saying, 'What is this musical instrument of Shaytan doing in the house of the Messenger of Allah?' The Messenger of Allah turned towards him and said, 'Leave them alone, for these are the days of the 'Id.'"- 2 Rating: Good Answer
